This session focuses on the establishment of a global network of Technology Transfer Facilities for Impact (TT4i) and their role in strengthening the societal valorisation of science, technology and innovation. The session will introduce the concept of impact licensing and explore how TT4is can act as independent brokers connecting technology providers with societal markets and impact-oriented applications. The approach aims to facilitate technology transfer in ways that create balanced value for licensors and licensees while ensuring that societal impact is embedded in the transfer process. Building on this common framework, the session will move from concept to implementation. Representatives of emerging TT4is in Türkiye, Germany and Croatia will share their experiences, perspectives and lessons from establishing and applying the TT4i approach in different national and institutional contexts. Their contributions will highlight how the model can be adapted to different innovation ecosystems while remaining connected through a common international network. Particular attention will be given to frugal innovation and the opportunities created by adapting technologies to resource-constrained environments and new societal applications. Such adaptations can generate reciprocal benefits, including greater efficiency, new markets and applications, further technological development, and additional intellectual property. The session will also address mechanisms for strengthening quality, transparency and trust in impact licensing. This includes the certification of brokered impact licensing agreements against recognised principles for ethical integrity, legal robustness and measurable societal impact, as well as the use of structured tools and quality labels that can support TT4is in their brokerage activities. Finally, the session will connect these practical experiences with the broader international technology transfer landscape, drawing on insights from the AUTM/WIPO Technology Transfer Leadership Summit and considering how the emerging TT4i network can complement existing technology transfer structures and strengthen international collaboration.
